Astana Hosts Discussion on Sustainable Land Resource Management

An event dedicated to World Soil Day was held in Astana, the press service of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan reports. The Land Resources Management Committee of the Ministry of Agriculture and the UN FAO brought together representatives of research institutes, universities, and expert organizations to discuss the current state of Kazakhstan’s soils and modern challenges in land use.

Participants highlighted the need for comprehensive soil fertility assessment and the introduction of innovative approaches to sustainable land management. Special attention was given to the impact of urbanization and climate change, which increase pressure on land resources.

Speakers emphasized that soil quality is directly linked to food security, the stability of the agricultural sector, and the preservation of ecosystems. Presentations covered international projects, agricultural technologies, land reclamation, and rational land use amid expanding urban infrastructure.

The event served as a platform for exchanging experience between government bodies, scientific institutions, and the business community. Outstanding specialists in soil science received Certificates of Appreciation from the Land Resources Management Committee.

Such events strengthen professional dialogue and support the development of coordinated solutions, while participation enables experts to stay informed and apply modern practices in their work.
